Do You Feel Me?

Designer Pens: Papermind Issue 14

Papermind Issue 14 Exhibition from Pen&Paper Apparel on Vimeo.

Papermind, a DIY zine originally started in Barcelona that later spread to other European countries, made it’s debut appearance in North America on September 26 @ Grace Gallery on Main Street; organized and curated by Jayme Cochrane, a friend and graduate of SFU.

When Jayme first asked me to participate, I had one of those “pinch me” moments since this Zine seemed like a big deal.  At the end of the day, it ended up being an important event in the art community of Vancouver.  Jayme was interviewed by the Peak newspaper and was asked “why Vancouver?”  He responded by saying:

“I think the reason I picked Vancouver is because I wanted to see what’s possible to do here”

What was possible was to book a venue, gather and co-ordinate a group of 20 artists and have them self-produce and exhibit their work in the span of 2 months.  What was possible was to prove that there are artists in Vancouver that are willing to just participate and celebrate conversation without any monetary return.

It was great fun and an honor to be part of the 14th issue of Papermind
